Fares were read from the operator's own online booking calendar on 28 September 2026 for the Gladstone to Curtis Island direction (one way, 8:00 am sailing on 30 September). Vehicle fares include the driver, so a car at $92 is the whole cost for one person plus the car. Children aged 4 and under travel free. Walk-on passengers pay at the bar in the saloon once aboard; luggage travels at no charge according to the operator's terms. The operator's terms say all fares are subject to availability, surcharges and seasonal alterations and that full payment is due at booking. Return-trip prices and the Curtis Island to Gladstone direction were not separately read. Fees apply to changes: $25 for amendments inside 48 hours, $50 inside 23 hours, and cancellations more than 48 hours out lose 50 per cent. All fares come from that single reading of the booking system and could not be checked a second time. Bicycles are not listed: the operator's terms say push bikes travel free with walk-on passengers, while its booking system shows a $6 bicycle item, so ask when you book. All fares in Australian dollars (AUD).

Curtis Ferry Services has run boats out of Gladstone Harbour since 1997, and its Gladstone Marina terminal is the public departure point for South End, the small village on the south-eastern tip of Curtis Island. The same operator also calls at Farmers Point on Facing Island. Two matching 30 metre vessels, Curtis Endeavour I and II, each take up to 16 vehicles and 150 passengers, with a licensed bar, toilets, snacks and ice on board. Secure car parking is available at the terminal. The timetable is a short weekly grid rather than a daily shuttle. Boats leave Gladstone at 8:00 am and 2:30 pm on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, at 12:30 pm on Mondays, and at 8:00 am and 5:30 pm on Fridays. Return sailings leave South End an hour after each matching Gladstone departure, except on Mondays when the single return is 3:30 pm. Nothing runs on Tuesday or Thursday, so a day trip is only practical on a day with a morning boat. This is a vehicle ferry as well as a passenger one, so you can take a vehicle across. The operator says vehicle access beyond South End is by four-wheel drive only, and vehicles must be booked ahead and checked in at least 30 minutes before departure. A standard car under 5.5 metres costs $92 one way including the driver; vehicles up to 6.5 metres are $110. Foot passengers pay $23 as adults or $14 as children aged 5 to 14, at the bar once aboard. Most visitors come to walk, fish, or camp. South End has a 20-site unpowered campground about a kilometre from the boat ramp, with composting toilets, no wood or charcoal fires, and a permit obtained beforehand from the Gladstone Visitor Information Centre. Camping inside Curtis Island National Park needs a separate permit from Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service. Turtle Beach on the island is a flatback turtle rookery, with nesting from about late October to January, and the operator asks visitors to keep their distance from any turtle on the sand. Because the schedule is thin and the operator says it can change without notice, check the booking calendar or phone the office before planning around a specific sailing.
  • Arrive at the terminal a few minutes before departure; vehicle boarding usually closes earlier.
  • Check the operator's service alerts before travelling — weather, tides and river levels affect services.
  • Confirm accepted payment methods and whether a booking is required for vehicles.
