These are the standard (ticket window) fares shown on the operator's fares page for 7 October 2026; online fares are a dollar or two lower and limited in number, and vary by date, so check the booking page. Vehicle fares include the driver; each extra passenger in a vehicle pays the passenger fare. The operator's FAQ also announces a temporary fuel levy of $5 per one-way vehicle booking and $1 per one-way foot passenger; it does not say whether the prices shown include it. Peak fares apply on some dates: from 30 October to 3 November 2026 and 18 December 2026 to 4 January 2027 the standard vehicle fare is $98 one way ($183 return) and the adult fare is $23 one way ($46 return). Selected Friday to Tuesday dates in January 2027 are also peak. Dogs travel free on the open decks and bicycles travel free with a paying rider. Tickets stay valid for 12 months and can be changed free. All fares in Australian dollars (AUD).

Searoad Ferries links the Mornington Peninsula and the Bellarine Peninsula across the mouth of Port Phillip Bay, and it lets a driver skip the long loop through Melbourne and Geelong. Two vessels, the MV Sorrento and the MV Queenscliff, carry cars, caravans, motorbikes, bicycles and foot passengers between the terminals at Sorrento and Queenscliff, and the operator says they run every day of the year, including Christmas Day. The crossing takes about 40 minutes, and the vehicle deck is open during the trip so you can go back to your car. The timetable is simple: a departure on the hour from each terminal from 7am to 6pm. On the live timetable that the operator publishes, the pattern was identical for every date from 6 October 2026 to 4 April 2027, with no separate weekend or public holiday version. Vehicles should reach the ticket window 40 minutes before departure and foot passengers 20 minutes before. Searoad says tickets bought ahead can be changed for free, and a late arrival simply moves to the next boat. The operator also says online tickets are cheaper than window prices. Prices depend on what you bring and when you travel. A standard vehicle up to 5.5 metres costs $91 one way including the driver, while a foot passenger pays $21. Bigger vehicles, caravans and trailers are charged per metre. Some dates are peak: 30 October to 3 November, 18 December to 4 January and several January weekends carry higher fares. Bicycles and dogs travel free, although dogs must stay on the open decks and cyclists board through the vehicle ticket window. Both terminals are changing. Queenscliff's terminal opened in April 2023, and Sorrento's new over-water terminal was completed in 2026. Vehicle height is capped at 4.1 metres, and the operator says there is limited room for tall vehicles, so arrive early if you are towing or driving something high.
  • Arrive at the terminal a few minutes before departure; vehicle boarding usually closes earlier.
  • Check the operator's service alerts before travelling — weather, tides and river levels affect services.
  • Confirm accepted payment methods and whether a booking is required for vehicles.
